Six years since the cruel and untimely death of their mother, Raina Marshall finds herself riddled with worries that are of no concern to normal eleven year old girls. The most important of which surround her younger brother, Rami, who seems to prefer his imaginary Kingdom to real life.

The summer feels like those previous. As they spend their days at Grammy's, Raina struggles to come to terms with her father's absence, especially considering she would no longer be able to protect Rami come September.

But with unexplained disappearances, mystical books and an outdated prophecy, strange beasts come to life, pulling the Marshall children into a whirlwind of an adventure - quite literally!
