The Shadows in the Dark

Skylar Blake never understood why anybody would want her as much as these people did. In her eyes she was just average, her looks were anyways. She was taught that no matter how hard you get hit, you need to hit back 10 times harder, because her life just might depend on it.
For as long as she can remember in her 17 year of life she's been training. Training to fight, to defend, to protect. She's told that someday a time will come where she will have to answer the call, the call to save the world. From what she has no idea, and anytime she asks she never gets a straight answer. She's knows she's not the only one, but she knows she's favored out of all the other girls.
Asher King, an egotistical jerk, was the male favorite, much to Sky's dismay. In her eye's Asher was a player. Its not like they went to a real school, but there were still those girls who cared more about their looks and boys than anything. And how they got into this, well whatever it was, she has no idea. They say its a gene, its in their blood, it makes them special.
Nobody knows who "they" are. They've been taking kids for years now, always taking them to the same place. They are said to be a group meant to protect the world, they have no face, only one name, The Shadows.
