It was the year 4045 and Japan had been obliterated via nuclear bomb...australia had sunk and the world had ended. The world was dying and in the mind of President Richard Amara babies needed to be made. First gay marriage was Abolished. Then schools were opened that paired a male and female student together. By the end of six grueling years, the couple would be the perfect married couple and they would have babies.

Lena Amara hated this plan. The world had no problem with population before and she was sure that her father's plan wasn't needed.

When she is paired off to the former prince of Japan she realizes the plan is not leaving but with how sick and how upset this boy is over the bombing of his country she realizes it might be impossible to reach their graduation requirements but one thing is for certain. America is no longer free and it will not be until the world is populated once more.

The world is electrified. Everything runs on electricity, from lighting to transport, life support to social media. Oblivion. Then, grid is down. And the world turns dark. And doesn't turn back on. America, the most forward thinking and innovative Western idealist, has answers. Her feminist values push her neck to neck with her male peers. She is one of the first to figure out that the grid will eventually fail, because of the vein of fossil fuel instability, trying to raise the alarm. When the grid does fail, she doesn't even get the satisfaction to say 'I told you so' before she is forced to collaborate in the TROIKA - a trio of biologist, engineer, and geophysicist that must find an immediate and then long-term solution to power the earth. Oh, and she has no choice. USSR, a cynic planner and injured war veteran, has questions. Torn between his eastern roots and western intelligence, he struggles to fit in, curb his aggression, and deal with personal loss. Instead of notifying the world of the impending grid failure, he builds a vast arsenal nuclear plants to power his land against the rules, and when the grid falls, his lights and machines keep running. When finally his arrest occurs, he finds himself in a unique situation, offered a position in the TROIKA - but if he declines, then a life of darkness behind bars awaits him. The goal of the TROIKA is simple: Be quick, be correct, be ready. It doesn't take long for USSR and America to loathe each other on principle, each with their own goals and ideals, clashing on everything from fashion to economics. Can they push away their pride and save the world, maybe even themselves? Or will their bitterness engulf everyone in thick, oily darkness forever? A single choice will ultimately decide their fate. 2145 Long, long ago, humanity had reached it's peak in peace and prosperity. The sad thing was that there was still war and starvation. Overpopulation took it's toll, taking away room and a surplus of food. The world continued to die until 100 years ago, when Governer Zackly's great grandfather had come up with an idea. What if we could halve the earth's population? What if, within a region, the strong will rise, one by one, to create a better, more efficient society. This was Zackley's vision. However, every vision of change comes with bloodshed. The only way for the strong to emerge is if they eliminate the weak. And that is exactly what today's society is based upon. I am Bertolt Hoover. I understand that I have to kill or be killed. On behalf of the region of Maria, I accept my challenge. ⊷⋄⋄⚄⋄⋄⊶
