We Were Here

Andy and his friends seemed to have it all.
And by all, they meant each other.
The summer after graduation had started out like any other - waiting impatiently for the ice cream truck to make it's way to the front of Theo's lawn, planning adventures that eventually led them to the ocean, avoiding responsibilities like proper adults - and for a second, it seemed like the world was going to be alright.
But nothing is ever permanent and guarantees are as solid as the wind and sometimes the people you think will always be there, aren't.
And suddenly, having it all just means that there's more to lose.

This is our agreement to keep a journal from now on.
No more putting it off, no more saying we'll start tomorrow.
We thought we had a lot of tomorrows. We thought a lot of things.
But now, we want the world to know we were here.
Before it's too late and we all go our separate ways.
Before none of this matters anymore.
We promise to keep a written account of our days.
We promise to reflect on days past.
We promise to never forget you.
