It is a dream of many to posses the ability to time travel. Mariposa is living that dream, able to journey into history on the wings of the butterflies that reside near her home. These mysterious creatures take Mari anyplace, anytime, and to return to her time she must complete a task or problem. When her latest trip back in time takes her to the United States, ravaged by civil war, she faces challenges like never before. While there, she meets a woman overwhelmed by debt, a mere step ahead of the bill collectors, and a handsome boy ready to risk his life as a soldier. As her feelings for these newfound friends grow, what will she do when the butterflies come to take her home?
