Into After

"Death, quite literally, was staring me in the face."

I lay in the hospital bed. The doctors were in a frenzy as they tried to keep me alive. A couple merely stood towards the side holding clipboards, jotting down my final moments. I struggled to breathe.
"She's going. We're losing her."
My vision was becoming more and more hazy. I knew I was dying. I wanted to fight the unconsciousness descending upon me. I wanted to hold on. Memories surged before me. . . .
In the corner of my vision, I saw a figure. As I turned my attention to it, the world around me seemed to fade all the more. I turned away, trying to find my parents among the blurs. Yet everything was muddled now.
The figure came closer. I realised what I was seeing was the Grim Reaper. He had come to take my soul.
I braced myself for his scythe to strike. . . .
