When Sam finally locates Wendel in his secret safehouse, he realizes the things he always fought for weren't actually real, he goes insane and sees himself working for his own nemesis, in an attempt to save his world from a conspiracy created hundreds of generations ago. He sees the republics fall and tries to free mankind from a curse that could probably lead the Curtisan Mages to Extinction.
