-Story Excerpt-

"I suck," I say to myself as I bang my head against the table again.

"Need help?" I bring my head up fast enough to get whiplash as I look up at the voice of the stranger in the library. My eyes connect with a pair of brown one's and I feel my heart start to hammer in my chest.

Asher Greggs is talking to me.

Holy. F*cking. Sh*t.

"What?" I ask in a moment of total confusion. I had no idea that Asher was friends with Nolan. Asher isn't on the football team like Nolan, he's the captain of the soccer team. I absolutely cannot believe that he's here standing in front of me, hands tucking in his pockets and hair slightly messy.

"I asked if you need help. I tutor Calc and heard you complaining from the hallway," Asher's smile is easy and laidback, showing off his crazy perfect smile. I have to tear my eyes away in order to think clearly, still in shock that he's here talking to me.

"Um yeah, that would be great actually. Thanks," I give him a small smile before moving my clutter so that he has a place to sit beside me. His beautiful smile and deep eyes leave me in a trance as he walks to the brown leather chair on my right and sits down, scooting slightly closer to me as he takes in the math problem I've been trying to solve for the past ten minutes.

"It's Lila, right?" Asher asks after looking at my paper for second. His eyes flicker back to mine as he awaits my confirmation- which I give to him in the form of a slight nod.

"I'm Asher. I've seen you around school, right?" I give him another nod before clearing my throat and turning back to my paper, trying to hide the obvious blush in my cheeks,

"Calculus?"

"Right."

Shannon Dugray and Quincey Mason are like cat and dog. However, there may be something more behind their constant arguing. Shannon has sworn she would never admit it, as he belongs to her best friend, Tiffany, a fact that everyone in their school is aware of. Choosing friendship over love, she decides to focus her attention on Orson, the new student. But, no matter how hard she tries, the only one she is drawn to is the rough, annoying, yet irresistible, Quincey Mason. However, after witnessing Tiffany betray her, Shannon realizes that her dear friend was not worth the sacrfice. Her heart breaks because for Tiffany, she uselessly insulted and pushed away her true love. Can she still turn back to Quincey or is the bridge that once connected the imperfectly perfect couple destroyed forever? _________ BLURB: Lying on the grass, one leg straight, the other folded. Quincey was covering his eyes with his arm. I came closer to him, not as scared as I thought I was going to be because he looked calm, approachable. I crouched next to him and watched as he breathed peacefully. At first I wanted to just leave his phone next to him and go, but it could get stolen if he didn't notice it was there. The best thing to do was to simply give it to him. After boosting myself for a little while, I poked him lightly with my index finger. "Hmm," he growled without moving an inch. "Do I look like someone who wants to be disturbed?" His voice was harsh, almost mean. My heart pounded as I felt my throat squeeze. "Oh...," I whimpered sounding like a crying seal. He removed his arm from his eyes, and looked at me like I was some kind of specter, the last person he expected to see. "Shannon?" Quincey furrowed his brows in disbelief. He sat up so quickly I flinched. I immediately stood up, my legs itching to escape, forgetting why I came to begin with. "Wait," I felt his palm graze my fingers failing to grab me before I ran off. When I slammed my locker shut and turned to see Toby standing there, watching me, I jumped in fright and dropped my bag. Talk about speaking of the devil. I picked it up quickly before he could and said a rushed "hi" before turning to leave. But Toby pulled me back to him making my flustered countenance change and I was suddenly defensive. I pulled away and made a face. "Do you need something or something?" I questioned him. "Relax," he said. "Are you in a hurry?". He sounded so sweet. And why was he looking down at me so innocently? "I'm not", I said with a shake of the head. He seemed very polite so I instantly felt bad for being rude. "What's up?". "You're Harvey, right? Harvey Celestine?". I nodded. "You're Maria's friend". "To the point, Meyers". I was quickly becoming bored. Toby looked surprised for a moment, although I didn't know why. But then, he smiled a little. "You left your geography note and textbook in class and that wouldn't do considering the fact that we have a geography test tomorrow". I immediately switched up and started thanking him profusely. All my sticky notes and reminders were in there. He smiled and waved it off before turning to leave. When I got home, Maria gave me a phone call, squealing like a child. "Toby invited me to his birthday party this Saturday!". I pulled the phone away from my ears to protect myself from the extra scream that came after that. "He said you could come too". "No thanks, I've got to study". "Tests are ending tomorrow". "Uh college..". "...isn't until the end of the year? Dude, why are you being so ....not fun?". "Dude," I said, getting up to pace. "I just don't want to come". "Why?". "I don't know". "Dude, why?". "I said I don't.....". Immediately, I was interrupted by a stone flying through my window and into my room. I instantly screamed.

"You say you love me, yet you try to rip me apart limb by limb. I may not break easily, but the way you keep wearing me out all the time - well - I might as well just be made of paper. That way you wouldn't have to try hard to break me. One tear with your fingers and that's it. I'd be done for. Too bad that's not going to happen." *** "I want a kiss." He leans in a little, just enough to touch my hair. "Did you dye your hair purple?" he smirks, his famous smirk. I smack his hand away and he steps back. "It looks nice." He says softly. It sounded genuine. Like, 'the Carter Daniels' was actually giving me a compliment. He laughs, knowing I didn't expect him to say that to me. "Thanks." I say softly. Then, I casually lean into him, so close I can feel his breath hitch and his heart race. "Do you still want that kiss?" I whisper, seductively. Carter is frozen in place. I guess he wasn't expecting me to tease him back. I wasn't either. Now, it's like my body and mind aren't the same. But, I had to admit, it was fun teasing him like this. *** On the surface Lila seems like your everyday teenager in her junior year of high school, but if you look a little deeper, you will see something dark and uncertain lingering in the depths of Lila's life. Lila has always gotten out of her conflicts with her shyness, whether it be with her 'friends' and their abuse or Kevin's (Lila's older brother) best friend, Carter and his constant tormenting. But, when she decides to finally fight back against the binds that trap her from freedom, will Lila cower under the fear of her 'friends' or will she finally find her voice and free herself from the darkness that never wants to leave her? Finding Her Voice focuses in on a teenage girl's life named Lila. Follow her story as she gets into rancid blood baths with her (sort of) friends, trades insults with her older brother's best friend, and takes advice from her smarter, younger brother.

After leaving the BAU without a word to anyone but Hotchner, Addy went back to the only home She'd ever known, Brookes memorial. Hospitals were for healing after all, weren't they? Deep down, knowing it's time she seeks him out to set the records straight, because what else can you do? "I swear I didn't know you were working here again. We uh, we had a case. I was looking for an Intern and I just thought I'd watch for a minute when I saw it was you." He put his head down barely looking at me, like he couldn't look at me. "You look like shit." I sighed watching his head perk a bit. "Thanks, I appreciate the observation." He was definitely being sarcastic. He just sounded off. "How's JJ? The baby okay?" His head shot up staring at me confused a moment before speaking. His entire body seemed to tense up. "Did Emily tell you about it?" I just shook my head. "No, JJ did. I'm happy for you two, really I am. If you're busy with a case I'll leave you alone, I just thought maybe we could talk." I put my head down going to turn away before I felt his hand on my arm. "Addy, I, I just don't understand, why didn't you just talk me?" I sighed taking his wrist in my hand and walking him silently to an on call room. Once the door was closed I watched him sit down on the chair hanging his head in his hands. "I was hurt Spencer, actually no, I was devastated." I watched his face change as my pager went off stopping me from continuing. "Shit, Spence I have to go, someone is coding."

"What do you want?" I snap, slamming my locker shut. His casual smirk, messy dark hair, tan skin, strong arms, eerie storm-grey eyes... the list could go on of things I notice- that I shouldn't notice- about him. "Oh, I want a lot of things." He inspects a speck of dirt on his arm. "I'm sure you've heard the news?" His eyes flicker back up to meet mine. Does he know? No. He can't. So I roll my eyes. He can't know that I know, that I would do anything to be the first one he tells. "You'll have to be more specific." I mutter, trying to look casual as I inspect my nails. "Well, it involves a certain title of the swim team," He offers. I shrug. "So you got captain. That's cool. And what do I have to do with that?" He narrows his eyes, trying to read my expression. Unfortunately for him, I have mastered the art of hiding my emotions. "This is what I wanted to talk to you about. During English," He fiddles with his sweater sleeve. "I recall you trying to talk to me," I frown. "Well, I..." He swallows, seeming... nervous? "I'm not doing too great... subject wise. And if I don't pick up my ass soon, I might be forced to quit." He rubbed the back of his neck, making his shirtsleeve slide up his arm to reveal a strong bicep. Not that I notice. I narrow my eyes. "And what do I get back in return?" I cross my arms. I'm going to be late for the bus if we don't hurry. He studies my face. "Name your price." He mirrored my position. I sigh. Money... but I don't need it. Popularity... but I don't want it. I meet his gaze steadily. He lifts his chin, the tiniest bit, but it doesn't intimidate me. I square my shoulders and stand up straight. He's only just taller than me. He tucked my hair behind my ear. I wasn't the drunk one here, but the way he gazed at me with his deep eyes was enough to make me. I blinked my eyes at him and shook my head, trying to clear the fog in it. The fact that I was laying over him, with our chest pressed together and his hand on my waist wasn't helping either. "I-I... I don't think that's a good idea," I whispered, finally getting my voice back. "Why?" He looked at me intensely. "Is it because of your boyfriend?" "No." "Then what's the problem?" His thumb lightly creased my back from where my top had gotten up, making me quiver. "Why can't you stay?" "I..." "Don't you trust me, Lexi?" "Of course I do, I just..." I moved a little to get off him, but in a swift motion, he flipped us on the bed with him on the top this time. Gasping in surprise, my eyes grew big and I put my hands on his strong biceps. He put his forearm on either side of my face, leaning on them. I rubbed my thighs together which were between his legs. I was trapped between him and the bed. My breath hitched as he leaned in until our noses touched. "You just what?" My entire body heated as I felt his muscular chest pressed against mine. I bit my lip and tried to control my stupid hormones, but it made it worse when Noah's gaze went to my lips. I saw his Adam's apple bob as he continued to stare at my lips.
