The angel intrigued him. Jack grew up in a very religious household. His father a preacher and his mother a religious teacher. As the only child his father expected him to become a preacher. But after Jack's mother becomes ill and on his way to the hospital his car gets rammed and he wakes up in heaven. A few weeks in and he's still very skeptical he should be here when a demon named Abyss comes up from hell to reclaim a bad sort. Although demons can't love, what he feels for Ariel seems a lot like love. In this angel/demon romance, God is a woman and all the characters in Heaven and Hell love whoever they want. Some characters and settings were inspired by real demons or angels, or by mythology.
