This is the first book of the Maia McAdam series!
When Maia was younger, her parents died in an unfortunate chain of events, which forced her to enter the foster care system. There were many people who were willing to adopt her, however, the first night at each new home, her horrible night terrors would compel to commit atrocious acts. Therefore, once Maia turned 14, she was sent to a mental institution in her hometown of Manhattan called Kohler Mental Hospital. However, in a rapid turn of events, her life becomes hectic once she learns of someone's plan to end the human race. Her night terrors continue to worsen, though now she believes that they might be the key to understanding who she is and how she can save humankind.
