"Well," Alex began, raising his voice back to its normal volume, "how about this whole superpowers thing?"

"Ohhhh, nice one," Lafayette smirked, and Hercules rolled his eyes.

"Do you want to take this one, Laf?" Laurens asked with a grin. 

"Definitely," Lafayette answered, "okay, so here's the deal. This place is called the School for the Potentially Enhanced, which means most people here have superpowers."

"But not everyone," Hercules added, "you can also get in if you're a really good fighter, or family of someone who does have superpowers."

"Or if you find out about the school," Laurens joined in, "it's supposed to be a secret, so if you discover it by accident you have to switch over or swear absolute and total secrecy. I think that's why other-John is here, actually. Because he found out."

"Anyway," Lafayette went on, "because this is the SPE - School for the Potentially Enhanced - we have special lessons on Fridays to train with our abilities."

"For as far as we have those," Hercules added under his breath.

"They're called Abilities Stimulation Lessons, usually just abbreviated to ASL."

"Which apparently does not stand for American Sign Language, as much as I would've loved that," Hercules mumbled.
