At age 23 He meets 25 year old Gilbert, who quickly falls in love with the awkward blonde. Matthew struggles not to reciprocate Gilbert's feelings out of fear of being rejected again. Will Matthew cave and admit his love for the charmingly goofy German? Or will things spiral out of control causing Matthew's depression to worsen

It is most common in females than males because they are specifically told not to pursue love. Most of the time they are set up for arranged marriages and / or forced marriages by the family who believes that the candidate of one's choice isn't good enough for them and that they should marry the person that has already been selected for them. The worst aspect of philophobia is that it keeps a person trapped in solitude.
