Starting during New Moon and continuing on, Grace Young is the younger sister of Emily Young the imprintee of Sam Uley. After a car accident kills their parents the young girl who'd just graduated high school comes to live with her sister and her brother in law. It seems impossible that so many shirtless males wander about their house all day, and it also seems she'll never get use to being stared at by one in particular. Attending Forks Junior College during the day and working at the diner at night she tries to keep busy to keep herself from grieving. On her way home from a night shift, she swerves as to not hit whatever was in the middle of the road, getting out to check she's startled by a vampire who seems to want her as his snack. Closing her eyes she's pressed against the truck, accepting her fate a giant animal comes swooping in out of nowhere and rips the man to shreds. With a quick heart and fumbly fingers she gets back into the truck and drives away as fast as she can go. What just happened? What was that? and she's sure as hell not in South Dakota anymore.
