In all of Europe there's a flashing on the TV screens, phones, tablets, digital screens, billboards ... everything. People look to the screens to see a bright flashing of a yellowish-blue color, the giant caution signs, the short print on the top of the screen typing "Code Z - Evacuate" everyone is confused. Nobody's seen a "Code Z" before, what does it mean? Then as their eyes travel down the screens seeing the words "This is a government announcement. This is the Zombie Apocalypse, the end as we know it, you're on your own." And everyone breaks.

The Z Contingency
The zombie apocalypse is coming. A scientist at the CDC has that terrifying realization when infected victims start displaying the symptoms predicted by his model. A virus responsible for hemorrhagic fevers is mutating into something that zombifies its victims instead of killing them. Realizing the only hope is to get ahead of it, he sets out to create a vaccine, but to create a vaccine he needs a sample of the virus. He tries to enlist the aid of a colleague to help him create the very virus he wants to eradicate, but she refuses on ethical grounds. Witnessing the horrific transformation of an infected patient forces her to reconsider, but before they can start working on a vaccine, their virus samples are stolen. As they criss-cross the country on a hunt for a cure, the paths of the two scientists cross those of a shadow organization on a secret mission, and a loose-knit network of zombie prepper groups whose loyalties are unclear. I am editing The Z Contingency for an updated edition, and I thought Wattpad would be a good platform to get improvements suggested by readers. The Wildfire Virus. That's the illness the eggheads have called dubbed that has spread alarmingly fast all over the world. No could figure out at first how and where it came from or how even spread so quickly. I was on leave, visiting brother in Boston when the infection hit. Yesterday, the world was normal with its own conflicts. The next, millions get sick, hospitals are overwhelmed, and any sort of space was converted into a makeshift hospital to handle all the sick. On day 2 the sick died and awoke attacking the living. I tried to get out of the city, but the military closed off every major access point and now I'm trapped within, along with millions of undead. It's been ten years since the fall of humanity. I was only ten years old when the zombies took over. The military told us to flee underground, explaining that it was safer. The zombies are smart, too smart. They can learn to hide themselves. Some of them disguise themselves to look like normal people. We tell them apart by checking their eyes. Zombies have enlarged pupils compared to humans. We all were hiding in random places, apparently any place we could find. There were a ton of zombies, the whole place was full of them. Many people from our group were lost to the virus. Muffled voices, blurred vision and heavy breathes were heard. The ship which everyone had longed for soon arrived. The plan was to run to the ship and never look back. The ferry was anchored at the harbor and on the signal, everyone ran for their precious lives, not daring to look back. Some people couldn't make it in 'The End' . The ones who survived were the last of us. Will the people make it in time? What hardships will they encounter along the way?
