Everyone is born with a phrase on their wrist. Nearly everyone, at least. This phrase, as many has concluded, is the most important thing their soulmate ever says to them. Most have the simple "I Love You," Some even have "I'm Breaking Up With You-" for times fate is wrong.

Will's already met his soulmate. She was the worst person he ever knew. He wasn't all too happy that she was who he was supposed to be with, but, well, they said each other's words. After getting out of that relationship. he gets a tattoo over the words and learns to stop trusting fate.

Nico doesn't care much for a soulmate. He's a bit too busy trying to live, trying to stay on his feet, and trying not to kill stupid customers at his stepmom's store. Though his friends-namely, his sister-insist that he find his fate, he doesn't try. 

The fun thing about fate, though, is that it's going to happen. Whether they trust it, or care for it, or not.

In this society, everyone has a soulmate. And the way to find yours is just look. Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away. For 2 years Violet also paniced but she knew that some people don't find their sm for 5-10 years after they come of age, so she wasn't as scared as Harper.
