After a long series of political conferences with the Russian communists, tensions began to rise. Ukraine had become officially part of Russia, which was pushing the limits to stop them. The communism had spread slowly through areas that were once under Soviet control. The former president of Russia, Putin, had been assasinated by members of an anti-communist group known as the uporno prodolzhat, or the Perseveres. This worsened the problem, as a tyrant came under control, and the U.S. was accused of organizing the murder. When the United States attempted to stop the slow communist invasion, they were threatened by the Russians.

In preperation for the war, the U.S. had once again begun the manufacturing of battleships. They had brought back and modernized the USS Missouri and USS Iowa, two of the most powerful ships in World War Two. The marines began working much more closely. Now, the men of the Navy were specialized for working ships, and the Marines could substitute for the Seamen, yet still be ready for combat. Therefore, most marines were placed aboard ships when not in combat on land.

By the time the world knew truly what was happening, Russia had become an empire. All the former countries of the Soviet Union were under control again, as well as several parts of Northern Africa. Nobody took any action out of fear of the strength of Russia. Instead, the Russian Navy struck its biggest threat first, the U.S. We had been prepared for it, and it was not a massacre like Pearl Harbor. It was still a big blow. The Russians had struck the closest harbor to them, the Bristol Bay Harbor, and taken the harbor and the Aleutian Islands. It would be a three-year struggle to fully purge the Islands of the Russian military, all the while keeping them at bay (A/N: Pun intended) in other parts of the world.
