The Fault In Our Lies

Her:

"Tell me about the mafia." They say.
I answered,"Ruthless, fiendish, merciless, brutal, callous, malicious and most of all inhumane."

I thought I could endure it all, I thought I was tough, I thought nothing was going to stop me. What could possibly go wrong?

Oh, I wish I had known how stupid and naïve I was. If I could take it all back, I would in a heartbeat. All this for what? A great epic love? A very happy ending? Chasing what you truly desire in life? If dreaming of all this costs me being put behind bars for something I didn't commit, it isn't worth it. Living is what scares me. Dying is easy. He always kept my sanity, he made me believe I was indestructible but they didn't know the flammable heart I was given.

Him:

"Tell me about the mafia."They said.
I answered, "My life."

I was raised with cold blood running through my veins, not to show mercy on any one whatsoever, to depend on no one but me, to slowly kill my heart in order to live in this cruel world.

A father? Never had one
A mother? Never heard of it
A brother? Wish I didn't have one.

My world started to crumble down the day she walked in. All the morals and the lessons and the torture I was taught, vanished. She was the reason my heart started beating again. She was the reason my lips twitched to form a smile. Her warm skin against my cold one was what I need the most. Unfortunately, my world will eventually taint her soul. It will break her. Am I that selfish for dragging her with me?
