Howton Institution for the Mentally Challenged and Criminally Insane: A place for serial killers, psychotics, and the deranged. Within the walls of this institution, inmates and employees alike find the sanity slipping from their minds, leading each of them to slowly go insane.
A special patient is about to enter these walls, one with charismatic charm and a persona that screams "innocent." Inducted into Howton for the crème de la crème of all crimes is Mr. Harry E. Styles, and his path will soon cross with that of his new and empathetic caretaker, Sarah Collins. What will become of the two? Will she see past Harry's charm and continue to consider him to be a criminal, or will she come to believe everything Harry says?
Strange and frightening occurrences begin wreaking havoc on the people at Howton after his indictment. Is this all a coincidence, or is Harry the one terrorizing everyone in this already chilling institution?

Hi to all new and returning readers of Unhinged! I'm here to remind you of two key things about this story: first, this story is not necessarily about real-life Harry Styles or One Direction; I consider this to be an alternate universe, where One Direction does not exist and Harry is just a normal person (kind of). That is why I filed this story under "Mystery / Thriller" instead of "Fanfiction." Secondly, I started writing this book several years ago and after posting Chapter 5, I stopped using Wattpad until very recently! Chapter 6 is the "reboot" of this story, and I am currently in the process of editing all previous chapters to allow for a better and more coherent reading experience. I'm excited for the future of this story and can't wait for you all to see it unfold. Thanks so much for reading this far, and I hope you enjoy what you read!

Alex just left Nigel with only leaving a message on a note, telling him he probably comes back - only if possible. Obviously this is a hit in the face for Nigel. The first few months are terrible, and it only gets worse as he gets no word from Alex. No sign of him that could possibly give him some strength to go on. After more months, he loses his hope, killing everyone around as if that would make anything better. Nigel gets locked up in an asylum, declared for mentally unstable: charged for many, many murders. And since he doesn't ages, they keep him for experiments. Since they are very religious in there, they believe it's the Devil his son. After eight years, somehow Nigel keeps seeing this blonde-reddish boy visiting him. He tells him stories, being all cheeky and forces him to wait. The doctors around are trying anything to get that boy out of Nigel his mind, and when they don't succeed, they decide to use electroshock therapy for that. As Nigel threats to lose Alex, the connection between the two fades a lot. Alex has barely enough strength to stay around, and gets forced to find a body before he disappears forever. Strangely enough a patient passes by during Nigel his therapy. A suspicious girl that always wants to know everything that's going around. Since she is the only weak person of them all in a near distance, Alex gets into her body - being forced to share it with another soul. As soon as Nigel realizes that the girl isn't just somebody, and they can't get away from each other, there's only one option left. But what will happen? Will Alex get his body back?
