Ten years ago, Aumeri died for her crimes as a necromancer. Now she has been resurrected into a world she no longer recognizes, where a once-powerful empire is now ruled by a boy with a few hundred followers, and dragons and monsters have driven the surviving humans into hiding. Everyone believes that she, the Necromancer of Arcantha, is responsible for the world's descent into chaos, but Aumeri knows there must be another cause. All she wants is to learn the fate of her fellow necromancers, but instead she finds herself caught up in the emperor's quest to reunify his empire. When he discovers her identity, he asks her to find the remains of the empire's greatest mages and resurrect them from the dead.
