Runaways

The chilly damp air of the woods beat against his face as he ran, the sounds of dogs barking echoing through the trees, calling to him in a way he didn't want to be called. He was injured, his side leaked blood from a fresh wound that needed to be stopped. If it wasn't, they would find him, surely, and they would bring him back to the terrible place he was raised once his brother went missing and his parents found dead with a stake to the heart.

Sounds of crackling leaves and twigs that crunched with each step made his spot obvious to the ears looking for him. His powers were minimal due to being so weak, but he still tried to survive. On he ran, and ran, through the thicket of woods that began to grow foggy as dawn cracked over the horizon, mountains blocking the sun for now but the sky growing white from the clouds. It wasn't long until he slumped against a tree, a hollow stare that slowly began to drift into the unconscious state of sleep. He just barely heard the soft crunches of twigs and leaves before he couldn't even hold his head up anymore, only catching the slightest glimpse of the boy before him. Pale, wearing shorts. That's all he seen.... and all he would until he woke up.
