Numi is a cheerful inkling that just turned 14 and gained full control of her squid and humanoid forms. As the school year nears the end and the summer break aproaches, Numi can't stop but think what it's like to play turf wars. But a history trip to Shellendorf Institute quickly overshadows the thoughts of turf wars with different thoughts: What were the extinct inhabitants of Earth like? Were they really primitive as believed for so long, or do the new exhibits in Shellendorf Institute tell otherwise? What caused their extinction? Those are questions she will soon find answers to.
This story has several perspectives. Kind of.

Nuclear storms tore across the globe, cities crumbled into dust, and the oceans rose to swallow what little remained. Humanity perished, its monuments drowned, its legacy buried beneath ruins and ocean. From the drowned world arose something new. Inklings, Octolings, and other marine-born kin emerged from the abyss, inheriting the planet humanity had squandered. From the bones of drowned empires, they raised spires of steel and stone, forging civilizations above the ruins of the old.
