"The Lori Harper I knew was so submissive that everyone could do anything with her and she wouldn’t have uttered a word. The Lori Harper I knew would have thanked the nurse and wouldn’t have spoken a word against the parents who hurt her the most. The Lori Harper I knew wouldn’t have cut class, gone to the pharmacy to buy sleeping pills and she definitely wouldn’t have attempted to overdose on those pills. As for this new Lori Harper? I don’t know her at all. But strangely, I find her a lot more appealing." Delora "Lori" Harper is depressed. Life has not been kind to her, especially in the past few years. She's lost a sister, she's been forced to make severe life's choices by her overbearing parents and her best friend abandoned her when Lori needed her the most. There's nothing she can do - except die. But fate has something else stored for her. Come. Step into Lori's world and see how she transforms from a dying, wilting flower-bud to a blooming one.

This is not a happy, feel-good story. This is a story of heartbreak, of a person being utterly destroyed. However, it is also a story of true friendship and loyalty, of finding oneself, of unwavering love. It is a story of keeping promises, no matter how much it kills you to keep them. (Not my cover photo) Condensed and more succinct version of previous story Bit of an 'origin story' to Hiraeth (WIP) which shows how much grief can interfere with living your life. TW: mental illness, death, abuse, suicide, drug abuse, violence, assault, sexual assault This novel is told from the perspective of Alex - as she grows up with her best friend, Andy. It follows 15 years of friendship, in the format of monthly journal entries. Andy and Alex's teen angst evolves into harsh adult realities, but they always have each other. It shines a light on a lot of prevalent issues in society: addiction, stalking, assault, abuse, mental illness, and the ever-present grief of losing loved ones. Andy and Alex never get the timing right in their love for one another, and often drift apart as a result - but they can always find each other again.
