Natasha drove in silence. Memories violently flooding her mind of the night before. Fear coursed through her vaines as she replayed the the events, unable to think of anything else. She reached up with her left hand and wiped her tear stained cheek when she feels the chill of the band around her wedding finger. She looks at the beautiful gemstone on her engagement ring. As stunning as the it was. It were laced with evil memories. She wiggles it off. She debated for a minute on tossing it out the window. She could care less to ever set eyes on it again. She was actually grateful she never actually married that man. Even though she called him her husband and he called her his wife. They never had the wedding he promised her. It was just another broken promise. It was one of the first broken promises to be exact. She decides to throw them in the ash tray instead. She may need to sell them for money. They were definitely worth a pretty penny. Natasha looks in the rear view mirror. No headlights behind them. Her eyes gaze over to the bundle asleep in his booster seat. His blonde head slightly cocked over as he slightly snored. He is so beautiful. She knew in her heart this was the only way to protect them. But she was scared at what consequences may lie ahead.

His eyes never left hers. "Deny it, Jade. Convince me, if you can, that you feel nothing. That you do not wonder, just a little, what it would be like, to be with me, to sleep with me, to have me devour you." He watched her, his gaze unwavering, dissecting her reaction. Jade felt trapped, pinned by his intense stare, her mind a chaotic whirl of conflicting emotions. Her past self, the quiet, studious healer, would have fled, appalled by such blatant impropriety. But the woman standing before Roma, the woman who had spent weeks tending to his broken body, who had heard his rough jokes and suffered his crude remarks, was different. She said nothing, could say nothing. Her throat was tight, her breath shallow. The blush on her face burned fiercely, a testament to her inexperience, yes, but also to the undeniable, unsettling truth of his words. She had wondered. She had felt the tremor. And Roma, with his sharp, brutal honesty, had seen through her carefully constructed walls, leaving her exposed, vulnerable, and utterly speechless. The sexual tension in the small room was a palpable thing, a living entity that coiled and tightened around them, suffocating the air, promising a fire that could consume them both. Roma, satisfied by her silence, by the raw exposure in her eyes, finally broke their stare, a slow, triumphant smirk playing on his lips. "Good," he murmured, his voice laced with dark amusement. "We're making progress. We are making very good progress indeed." Jade turned away abruptly, her heart pounding a frantic rhythm against her ribs. She busied herself with rearranging the small table for what felt like the hundredth time, her hands shaking slightly.
