The episode begins with a couple copulating in a tent in the middle of the woods. When the man comes out of the tent to get an object from the car, someone attacks him. The woman comes down and finds him dead, and she is killed soon after.

Vicki is still in the hospital after the vampire attack. Jeremy visits her to see how she is, but she rejects him because of her feelings for Tyler, who has started to show more interest in her.

However, Alaric is hit instead. It is revealed that it isn't working the same way, and it does not fully heal him. It's Caroline's 18th, Matt, Ellie, Elena, and Bonnie surprise her with a party to send off her human self. Jeremy leaves.
