Around twenty years ago, the ice covering the continent of Eglacia suddenly began to disappear. While many of the tribes were welcoming to this unexpected age of warmth, others were less overjoyed about the loss of what they considered an essential part of their world. Horrible wars started, and to make matters worse, a new, extremely powerful, and militaristic tribe invaded from the south. And finally, a mysterious prophet who previously ordered the murder of every animus dragon on the continent now claims that everything will be destroyed if the lingering enchantments can't be erased. Now five dragons must journey across the continent on a mission to destroy the last remnants of Eglacia's magical history... or everything they've ever known could be torn apart by war.
In the first book of Tale of the Five, the characters of Prism, Conch, and Shield are introduced. Prism is the famously good-for-nothing CrystalWing who is sent on the journey because she is the only one whose absence would have a beneficial effect on her tribe. Conch is the famously good-for-everything (except social interaction, of course) Southern CoastWing who is sent because she is the only one trusted with such an important task. And finally, Shield, the young ClawWing soldier. He is not sent at all, rather, he is bound by honor to his mission... whatever it may be...
