She can't tell who, but she can feel them. Watching her every move. Her and her friends - Oliver, Quinn, and Adelaide - all feel it. But creatures Evelyn doesn't recognize are coming for them, and she realizes she can no longer hide that she isn't human, her power. However, her friends aren't exactly human either. With friendships skating on the edge of more and secrets being revealed, Evelyn takes it upon herself to ensure that she and her friends are prepared for whatever is coming for them. But there's only one family that can possibly help them, and Evelyn will be damned if she has to go running back to those she swore to forget about. Some of them are award-winning entries in various micronarrative competitions. Others were adapted with the usage of audio and video stimuli thus creating something akin to hyperliterature. "I am not," I said, tugging on the cards. My fingers tangled with his. He let them go. I distributed the cards among us, my hair swinging as I leaned forward to give them their share. The monster in the shadows that followed her everywhere constantly asking her to be her friend. Angelica was certain she was going crazy and did everything she could to get rid of it. Priests, holy water, voodoo rituals, but still it wouldn't leave. When Angelica's boyfriend can't handle what's going on with her and breaks up with her, she's determined to hold onto everything she has left. So she decides to play this monster's game... quite literally. Now Angelica has the house, she has the job and she has a supernatural roommate and is collecting more as time goes on. But having monsters for roommates brings a whole different kind of problems. Like how to feed them, how to keep them from bothering the neighbors with haunting shenanigans, and, how suddenly she's getting more and more visits from local police.
