Every death is seen once. Once seen that death will become your responsibility. Your duties? Find until the person, wait till their moment of death, and accompany their soul to the nearest soul encampment.

There's just three rules: one, do not interfere, two, have no contact with the person, and three, do not under any circumstances, form an emotional connection.

What this means for 16 year old Luca concerning his long time crush and best friend Brent, is that he's gonna have to break a whole lot of rules, to make sure the person he cares for most in the world won't die.

Impossible? Yes.

Why? Because.... Mortals die.
