Young and different in the late 1940s.

1946, America. Loucas Lockwood, 17, has mild autism with shy personality and lives alone with his mother who believes he can never live normally or separate from her.

Loucas develops a crush on his school mate in the year above him, but it's not right. Not only is his obsession a year older, but it's another boy and also a much upper class in society than him.

He has to hide his feelings, it's not right to have them for another male and Loucas hasn't ever heard of it happening to anybody else, so he thinks he's a freak.

Loucas and the French originated boy he has fallen for, Emery Dansereau who is the local bank president's son, end up having a romantic relationship they both have to hide.

The relationship ends briefly though, as in August 1946 Loucas gets drafted for a year, the same month his 18th birthday took place. Emery, who went through the military few years ago, promises to wait for Loucas who he has quickly but surely fallen in love with.

What happens, when the lovers meet again after a year and being a year older?
Did their relationship survive the distance?
And how did the emotional, not strongest-minded Loucas survive the armed forces?
