Heartwood, Noun: The dense inner part of a tree trunk, yielding the hardest timber. After your mother got a divorce, the both of you moved to a large one story house. It was in the middle of nowhere, and your entire backyard was just one giant forest. While your mother was weaving her Easter basket, you decided to follow a path of flowers into the woods. Two best friends: one a science/history geek, and the other a daredevil who is always down for any challenge or new adventures. One chosen for her knowledge of ancient ruins, while the other is chosen as a well known survivalist. Together the pair travel on an expedition with a small military escort, other science nerds, and other miscellaneous sorts. Their mission for their boss with deep pockets? To explore an ancient, abandoned planet for potential human colonization. However, they soon realize the planet is not as abandoned as it seems, as they begin to fall victim to parasitic serpent-like aliens. But wait, there's more.
