As a little girl, Lily Davies was sent to an orphanage. She was left with a postcard with a picture of her and her mom. On the postcard are there ridden an address.  
Lily does not believe that her mom could ever abandon her.  
Lily doesn't know if her mom still lives on the address, but every year since Lily starts writing, she has written letters to her mom. Hoping that one day, she will find her mom and they will be reunited.
