In the expansive kingdom of Korandale, magic is outlawed and those who can wield it are branded as witches and hunted with extreme prejudice. Witches can be extremely dangerous and those who slay them may be granted power and status for their service to the kingdom; even commoners can become lesser nobility for killing a witch. However, for the witches and monsters that the common guild fighters and guards can't handle, Rangers, aside from being spies for the kingdom, are sent to deal with them and keep the peace.

Tori Rustword, an ex-ranger and fugitive, living in hiding from the Ranger Corps and Scinthia Woodreel, an aspiring knight who plans to kill the infamous Sorcerer Queen to restore her disgraced family's name, find themselves bound to one another by a curse that entangles their very lives until they travel to the Dark Castle and kill the Sorcerer Queen that resides inside.
