What would you do if you were lied to your entire life?
For young, 16-year-old Phoebe Miller, her hometown, Treedon Island, has always felt off. The leaders always seemed nervous, scared, unsure. Especially the closer it comes to exam day and the Festival. The Festival was created to recognize and reward the "good" students for the good grades they have gotten. But the Festival is nothing but bad memories to her and she can't wait for her 16th Festival to be over with.
After supposedly failing the final exam, Phoebe and 9 other failed students are sent to Black island. There, Phoebe is faced with a terrifying truth and has to fight to keep her and her new friends alive.
Black island is the last place Phoebe wants to be but it's the only place where she can receive answers about who her real friends are, who the Mysterious Steven Bog is, her school Bully, Mason Thigs, and love she never thought she could receive.
They have a plan but will Phoebe and her new friends be able to make it off of Black island with their lives?
