~~ Book 3 of The Marrying You Series. This can be read as a stand alone but I recommened you read the other two books too. ~~ Vanessa Brady is thirty and single. Her brother is happily married to an amazing woman and no one was more shocked by it than her but, while everyone around her seems to be moving on with life, she has remained where she has always been. When one Friday night turns into a sad pity party, Vanessa finds herself agreeing to something she would never before be caught dead doing but... desperate times call for desperate measures. The advertisement didn't promise any success of being chosen but, the prize was worth the gamble. The game was simple, agree to marry a complete stranger on live television and allow the world to watch your first year of marriage. If you succeed in lasting that long, the prize of one million dollars is yours to spend. On the day of her wedding, no one is more disappointed than her at her new husband Jonah. He is nothing like the men she goes for but she wants the prize. It all seems rather easy but Vanessa will soon learn that the first year is always the hardest and it's only made worse with a stranger. With cameras and the country watching their relationship, can Vanessa find a level of normal anywhere? What happens when her ex boyfriend and the father of her child suddenly reappears swearing to get her back? Vanessa may just learn something along the way but, on her quest to win, she may just end up losing a lot more than she hoped. Highest rank: #63 in Chicklit

[NOTE: This book was written in 2010, a time of long-distance phone cards, weight-loss obsessions, and searching for a man as a solution to life's problems-what a messy time to be alive! In other words, I hope you enjoy this throwback, and while this book does end on a cliffhanger of sorts, the sequel addresses any unanswered questions (which is hopefully fair, given that book 1 is free, ya know?] An awkward family homecoming at Christmas. A humiliating public weigh-in, with two judging parents as the audience. The announcement of a deadline for arranged marriage doom. And that's just the first two chapters. In "Year of the Chick," Romi Narindra must find love before her parents find her a husband. Easy to say, less easy to live through, as this book takes you deep inside "awkward Indian living in the West." To escape her fate, Romi wades through the waters of secret-dating, where self-consciousness is at an all-time high, and experience at an all-time low. It's the sort of thing that would turn almost anyone into a man-crazy freak with romance tunnel-vision, and that's exactly what ends up happening. All the while, a lack of inspiration in her corporate job leads Romi to her love of writing, in what quickly becomes a man-quest play-by-play. From whiskey-breath scum bags to uni-brow creeps and everything in between, Romi and her wingmen come up empty time after time. And that's when she meets a fellow writer. On the Internet. So will it be arranged marriage doom, or an Internet affair that's not as creepy as "To Catch a Predator"? Time will tell in the "year of the chick," a twelve-month quest to find love. Tick-tock. --------------------------------------------- "Year of the Chick" is book one of a series, and book two is available at Amazon! LENGTH: 75,000 words or 285 pages DISCLAIMER: this book contains profanities, blunt accounts of the dating scene, and many awkward family moments. Enjoy!

So, I'm kinda clumsy. I tripped when I walked across the stage to receive my high school diploma, knocked down a ladder that was supporting my dad, and sneezed into a wall. Yup, you read that right. I sneezed myself into a wall. So maybe I am a walking train-wreck trapped in a lanky twenty-two-year-old girl's body. At least my family loves me-tolerates me might be a better way of phrasing it-but even with my clumsiness I'm still able to get by with minimal craziness and just a whole lot of embarrassment. A whole lot. That is until the fateful September day I find myself chasing a chicken into a wedding cake. My sister's wedding cake. . . on her wedding day. . . in the middle of the reception. . . in front of two hundred other guests. I've got a new number one on my list of embarrassing moments, but this time I swear it wasn't my fault. I blame that chicken, my grandma, and the stupid bowtie she put on it, probably hoping to marry me off, so she can have the best man all to herself. Okay, fine, so maybe it was totally my fault, but. . . This is how it happened ©2018 ℓαℓαℓαℓαwriting
