Mercy ends up in the small coastal town called Cape Wave in Northern California after learning about the tragic accident that took her biological mothers life.
That's where she met Jack. Jack wasn't like any man she ever met before. He was handsome and mysterious and she was couldn't help but be drawn to him.
Jack has secrets. He wasn't human. He was always good at keeping his distance from anyone getting close to him and finding out who he really was. He was a merman who was currently living on land since he was currently 'landlocked' and can't figure out why he can't return home.
Mercy's dreams start getting more vivid and ever since coming to Cape Wave she has started sleep walking and always ends up at the beach from her dreams.
What happens if somehow Jack being landlocked and Mercy coming to Cape Wave and then meeting wasn't a coincidence? What if Jack was the man from Mercy's dreams. What if somehow them meeting plays a bigger role than they realize?

Land or Water?
Sollux was by the ocean, sitting on the dock one day. He doesn't really have the greatest life on land, he was fired from his job, he needed money to pay rent for his apartment, he didn't have many friends, and things just didn't work out for him anymore. As he gets up to leave from the dock, he falls into the ocean, but then he's saved by some mystery person and when he finds out it was a merman who saved him, he becomes great friends with him and finds out that his name is Eridan. But then, Eridan's father disapproves of their friendship and does something horrible. Sollux then finds Eridan with tons of cuts and bruises all over him, on the beach and helps him out. He does all of this while keeping him secret from everyone else except for his best friend, Karkat. After some time, he realizes that he can't stay on land if he wants to keep Eridan safe. Sollux will have to choose whether to stay on land and look for a different way to help him, or to become a merman himself and live in the water for the rest of his life. Although terrified, he moves forward to help untangle her as no one else is moving. He prays that she'll forgive him. Worry forms when she takes a lock of his hair. Was that a way of marking him? Regardless, he doesn't fight, not wanting to make it worse. Worry increases when she's spotted again. Muriel begins to develop a crush on Prince Philip after he frees her from the net. When her sister's displeasure with her grows worse, Muriel seeks to avoid it. In a desperate attempt to do so she finds herself cave of the sea witch Minerva. Philip's kindness remains prominent in her mind when Minerva offers her a choice to be a human. Hesitantly she agrees, unaware of how different the human world from hers.
