With her father's untimely death, she must find one to mary, as it is the 1800s and she has no choice in the matter. Her cousin throws a ball in the hopes that one of the many men who have their eye on Emilia will finally decide to marry her. Everything seems to be going according to plan until a handsome stranger arrives and takes all of Emilia's attention. The more they dance and talk, the further in love Emilia finds herself. And, the more disgusted and mortified the other guests appear. In the final hours before midnight, Emilia takes her last dance.
