All werewolves were created by God bound by their mate bonds. Two halves become one, their mate created for them to love and be loved by. A mate. The other half of their soul. Without the light that a mate brings to a male wolf, it will eventually succumb to the darkness. Having 'fallen' into the darkness they become feral, the wolf taking over, and the man lost for good.
