Owls had stopped sending letters. That was the first sign.

What once used to be the most effective way of transporting gifts, sharing news, and keeping in contact with your family while you were at Hogwarts, had suddenly turned upside down. Instead of the welcoming and cozy place the owlery used to be, it was now filled with owls picking out their own feathers, clawing at the walls, and hooting that never seemed to stop.

It wasn't long before more and more things started to go wrong all over Hogwarts. People in the paintings had stopped talking, the stairs were moving slower and slower, even peeves had started acting unusual. All of these, however, the staff of Hogwarts could easily ignore. "Oh please, even magic can get lazy sometimes. It'll go back to normal soon enough." But eventually, something happened that no one, not even the headmaster, could turn a cold shoulder towards.

A student had gone missing.

Simply disappeared.

Students could've sworn they saw sweet innocent Kylie Flume go to sleep warm and snug in the Gryffindor common room just the night before, but after searching all of Hogwarts at least forty-times, there was no denying it.

Something was wrong.

And whatever it was, it was coming after the kids.
