When Karo moves to Tarin, a city more advanced than any other in the world of Ottoch, she starts to experience what she believes are hallucinations, beginning with a man in a top hat and moments stopping for minutes at a time. As she begins to understand what exactly is going on, a new era rushes in, pushing her decisions on a time limit.
