A Special Vampire has escaped years of secluded experiments & containment of a unspoken group of human researchers on the surface-- which has found it's way to a nearby Au that has also made it up to the surface, which is peacefully known as BirdTale. Bird Sans ends up taking care of the vampire & becomes bonded with them over time.
