After the hero's kris and Susie defeat the king, he isn't imprissoned, and lashed out his anger at his duke and son. Rouxls, in an attempt to save lancer and his own life. Flees to the light world, a place where normally darkners can't go, but Rouxls, as the rule card, is able to change that.
Now the two must survive in an unfamiliar world, unable to return home or risk dieing.
