akrasia (n.) -lack of self control *finished* Lainey's life sucks. She's turned into Hydra's weapon, but she doesn't even know it. One day she wakes up in the care of the Avengers, and what she hears she doesn't want to believe. Her life was messed up before, and now it's 12 times worse. Also, I'd like to add that I think the book, writing wise, gets better as you move on. Disclaimer: I don't own any of the Marvel characters, only my own like Lainey, her mom, and her dad.

Access to light, clean bedding, or a warm meal was considered a privilege within the structures of Hydra. A glimpse of these comforts could only be granted to a soldier who followed orders. Peter was not one of them. With his thin limbs, the malnourished twelve-year-old was on the brink of death from exhaustion and starvation. It seemed that his days were numbered, and he himself longed for death. At least, that's what he believed-until a threat from the outside emerged, the one his superiors had warned him about: the Avengers. Yet for some unclear reason, this group wanted to save him. Especially Tony Stark, the Merchant of Death, saw something in him that Peter himself could not see. For reasons unknown to Peter, Stark wanted to take care of him and show him that the world still had much to offer.
