Asther lost home, and nothing could return it back. It was like a boulder carelessly wrecking a house. And the remainder was its ruins, the memories. Or a child who innocently plucked the remaining red rose out of the sea of wilting ones.
Either way, either metaphor. Her mother slipped out of her young hands. And nothing could and would bring her back.
As she continues to stir into her coffee cup of misery, nostalgia and bitter hopelessness. Their serendipity leered like the eloquent moon above them. When Asther was annoyed with sleepless nights, she thought that she could find comfort solo. In the middle of a tired sunflower field.
But when she thought loneliness was the cure to a heart lethargic from homesickness, she immediately found the best medicine in Gray. A boy who couldn't lull himself as well. And a young puppy-like teen who treated her like she was the best owner he's ever had.
And immediately, Asther felt as if a new roof was sprawled above their sleepy but love-aired heads.
How, you ask? Well, Asther also couldn't pluck it from her scalp. But all she knew, is that what she found instead of what she was trying to achieve was the thing she should have been looking for all along.
