Shadow the Hedgehog has always been fairly distanced with even those he was closest to.
Considering this, and the fact that chaos energy changes based on emotions, it's no surprise when Shadow loses all control of his Chaos. When he tells Rouge, she tips him off that he may be needing someone to help "tame" his chaos. What is the most surprising though, is the fact that he actually listened to her.

Amy's health struggle
After a series of intense battles, Amy begins to quietly suffer the effects of burnout, stress, and overexertion mentally and physically. Her usual spark starts to dim as she secretly pushes herself too hard, eating less, sleeping less, and distancing herself from her friends. Though she insists she's fine, her declining health becomes impossible to hide. The team begins to worry especially Sonic, who notices every crack she tries to cover.
