Seventeen-year-old, Heather County, has had a rough past and long story. After moving to North Carolina from California, Heather finds herself at a struggle to put herself out there. Senior year has just began, and she feels as if the world is crumbling before her. A few weeks into the school year, she discovers that rumour has spread about her. Heather realizes that as much as three people can change a persons life for the better. However, new problems start to form as she soon develops feelings for one of her friends. Will everything work out for her in the long run?

She faces a horrible time avoiding him, realizing that another guy, Brandon Zeleski, the opposite of her friends, is the one she's in love with. She's a loner at school, because her friends skip it and hang out by an auto store. But as the story unfolds, things only get worse for her. Her best friend is turning against her, and she's starting to recieve horrible nightmares that are connected with her life and the death of her dad. She starts believing that her nightmares give out answers to her dad's death and her future, and she starts to distrust people. Aiden can choose to live with his mom but chooses not to because he wants to protect his brother who can't choose yet. As Aiden dives deeper into his fathers unknown past, he uncovers more and more details about his father's past. As he continues to dive deeper, the tension grows heavier.
