Malakai (kai for short) has very busy parents and is struggling to keep up with their expectations. As a result of his family's high status he becomes very popular, but doesn't have any close friends, or any friends who are not trying to use him. Stirling is a shy boy who's only close friend is his adopted brother who's always had his back. He also has a high-class life but has hidden it well.
