Polaris is a 16-year-old girl in high school, who is nobody special. She is very awkward at times and has a hard time standing up for herself. One of her biggest fears is being the center of attention and she hates her first name.
Her best friend Amelia is one of the only people who she feels comfortable around, until she discovers the truth. In the process of uncovering deception, she befriends Atlas, her next-door neighbor, who she thinks she has nothing in common with.
Throughout the chapters she becomes closer with Atlas and farther from Amelia. She finally feels free, until something terrible happens. Her happiness is replaced with guilt, and she can't help but wonder if it was all her fault.
