Trying to survive in the city is rough, to say the least. 
As for Jaren Smith, it seemed like the perfect place to escape to. Running from abuse Jaren's life seemed to go from worse to bad, he still needed to find his soulmate. The ability to see color only arises after a person meets their soulmate. They often feel each other's pain and sudden emotions. But on the other hand, it's possible for a person not to feel anything leaving them to wander aimlessly. Jaren was unlucky in this department.
John Keyes, also known as Kryoz is a man who has lived in the city his whole life. Having not to be able to find his soulmate, John had given up. Even though the pain and stress he feels from his unknown lover send him into a craze. He just wants the pain and sadness to stop.
Follow the two as they try to fix their lives, maybe even ending them.

Stiles can't sleep, and if he told enough people that was all it was, maybe he would start to believe it. Still, as tensions were rising about them losing their territory he couldn't bother them with something he didn't even fully understand. Maybe he just needed something fun and easy to help him relax. Like the hot neighbor that he keeps catching staring at him. Derek can't sleep, and if he cleans his house enough maybe people won't realize how he doesn't care enough to clean up other parts of his life. Still, as he worried about his job and obligations, he couldn't let them down about finding a place they belonged. Maybe he just needed something interesting to keep his mind off of it. Like the clumsy man he can't keep his eyes off of.

Color. It's something our brain makes up. It doesn't really exist. So how come everyone made a big fuss about meeting and touching their soulmate so they could see in color? After all, what's so bad about black and white? Aren't they colors too? That's what Nico thought anyway. When he was younger he had tried to imagine a new color but had never been able to. His sister had died seeing the world in black in white. Nico didn't see the point of color. That is, until he touches his soulmate and sees what he's been missing out on... Edited January 2024.

He nodded slowly as he drank in John's face. He was beautiful. Those eyes, greener than the willow's leaves. He didn't miss how they lingered on his lips. The air was thick with tension but Jaren welcomed it. He'd never felt this sensation before. Was this where he finally admitted to himself he liked the guy in front of him, not just in a friends way? John's eyes moved back to his and there was something in them that wasn't there just a moment before. A sort of yearning, a question. The way Jaren inhaled sharply was answer enough.
