May is a 7 year old Japanese-American girl who never really connected with her cultural heritage, living in the US with her parents. Until one year after her grandmother passes away her parents decide to spend the summer in Japan, May feels ultimately disconnected in her new surroundings. This is a series of short stories inspired by a friend. After buying a new house his mom found a letter (random scribbling?) left behind in a back closet. The scrap of folded paper had warnings about demons that lived in the walls and forced him to sell his house. Needless to say it was an unsettling discovery.
