"It's not that I don't want to have feelings for you, but I know I shouldn't. I feel so many things for someone else, you know that, but they're not the feelings that matter. That someone else should be the love of my life, but they don't come close. I think I'm in love with you, and everything I should feel for someone else, I feel for you."

Elijah Down has feelings for Brendon Adams, who is confused about his feelings but is dating a girl, Amanda Miller, nonetheless. Feeling hurt, Eli begins a relationship with a boy, Noah Pierce, who has obvious feelings for Eli. Eli forces himself to have feelings for Noah out of guilt, and ends up getting into a relationship he can't get out of. Then, Brendon is forced to figure out his feelings before he loses Eli for good. All the while, ghosts of Eli's past show up in his present and complicate his feelings about everything even further.
