The Hungry Knight's job for them just might be their ticket home. But in a village pocked with ancient wells and secrets alike, plagued by a llama-mutilating skeletal monster and the ever-looming threat of royal conquest, can they unravel the mysteries before their own situation unravels around them?

And can Mirya trust this strange wide-eyed rag witch who's been following her around lately?

Commander Miles Quaritch was on a mission to escort some new scientists down to the research facility built on Pandora. Whilst doing so, his ego got the best of him and he got the idea to 'show off his power'. Walking up to the pilot, Commander Quaritch ordered a fire on an area covered by trees. Little did he know, he fired on a small medical lab that was run by a team of humans selected specifically by his higher ups. Once he landed and finished his escort mission, he was ordered to return to base and was put on suspension. Back on Pandora, a human child was the only thing left in the rubble of the destroyed medical lab. Unknown to Commander Quaritch, he had orphaned a two year old little girl, and left her in the ruins surrounded by more than 10 dead bodies. The mother of the child was killed, along with every human she has ever known. Once the child woke up and began to cry, she was so young she couldn't do anything. She knew she was hurt and scared, the bright light from the sun and all the ash falling onto her white skin further frightening her. The two year old was all alone. The forest line next to the medical lab began to make noise as a Thanator began to answer to the baby's cries. The feline-esque creature listened to her maternal instincts and followed the sound of despair. The animal climbed down from the trees and poked her heads out of the leaves, her many eyes finding the source and locking onto the injured infant. This is where the child's story begins... When magical beasts cross into Japan through portals, magical huntresses (and some magical huntsmen) are there to slay them. Consisting of a group of teenagers and young adults working semi-independently under the guise of the Protection and Research Agency, they fight day in and day out for a variety of reasons, using special rings to transform and gain weapons to use in their battles, for which they get paid for each magical beast they kill and bonuses if they save anyone attacked by them. One particular magical huntress, the sword-swinging orphan Ruka Kishio, is asked to join a small group of these hunters led by the charismatic Hana Miyashita, who herself wields a katana and is descended from former nobility, after Hana sees Ruka easily kill a beast by herself while on lunch break from school. Ruka, a girl with a troubled and at times traumatic past who usually fought alone, accepts after barely losing a sword duel to Hana. She soon finds herself bonding with the other members of the Fox Knights, in particular their second-in-command and only boy Yoshiro Arikawa despite the two of them frequently arguing, and she also finds herself becoming its third-in-command and primary trainer as they battle magical beast after magical beast. However, Hana has deeper ambitions to restore the honor of her family name, and she aspires to attain power by any means necessary. Can Ruka help Hana with her dreams, or will she be swept up in them?
